Sharifpura Lahore School Meal Program
Sharifpura is a dense industrial area of Lahore where many households rely on factory wages and irregular work. Children in this setting face a compounded burden: food insecurity alongside high exposure to unsafe water and infection. In classrooms, this shows up as fatigue, frequent absence, poor concentration, and untreated anemia. ARC has worked in Sharifpura and neighbouring low-income localities for the last five years, combining community-based research with sustained engagement through schools and local partners. This program is a direct extension of that work.
Program Goal
To provide a consistent school-based meal (five days per week) that supports children’s nutrition and learning, paired with safe drinking water, WASH education, and basic health screening through the school platform.
